Stop and resume a scan

Data Recovery Pro saves a scan's progress on your computer as it goes. If the scan is interrupted, nothing found so far is lost.

To resume

1. Connect the same cardDon't use it in between. Anything written to it can change what is recoverable.
2. Open Data Recovery Pro and choose the card
3. Click Start ScanThe app says “Picked up where the last scan of this card stopped”, shows the files already found, and carries on.

Other things to know

• The app recognises the card by its file system's serial number and its size. If the card has been formatted since, it counts as a different card and the scan starts from the beginning.
• Saved progress is kept on your computer, in the app's own data folder, never on the card. Progress that hasn't been used for 30 days is deleted.
• Your computer asks for permission again when the scan restarts: your password on a Mac (why), or Yes on Windows (why).
