The scan is slow

The deep scan reads every block of the card, so how long it takes depends mostly on the card's size and the speed of your reader.

The quick scan usually takes seconds. The deep scan reads the whole card, so a large card in a slow reader can take a long time. A card full of bad areas can take longer still, because each failed read is retried.

Making it faster

  • Use the computer's built-in SD slot or a USB 3 card reader. Older USB 2 readers are much slower.
  • Connect the reader directly to the computer, not through a hub or a monitor.
  • Keep the computer plugged in to power and stop it going to sleep while the scan runs.

Using the results while it scans

  • Files appear as they are found, and you can preview them during the scan.
  • You can stop the scan and review what it found so far.
  • If you quit, the next scan of the same card picks up where it stopped.

If the progress doesn't move

If the percentage stays the same for a long time, the card may have a damaged area. Leave it running for a while. If it still doesn't move, stop the scan, review what was found, and contact support with the card's size, the percentage it stopped at and your app version.
