On Windows there is no password to type: Windows asks you to click Yes instead. See why Windows asks for permission.
Finder only shows the files a card still lists. To find deleted files, Data Recovery Pro has to read the card block by block. macOS allows that only with an administrator's permission.
What happens when you enter it
- You type your password into a macOS dialog. The password goes to macOS, not to the app and not to us.
- macOS starts a small helper that opens only the card you chose, and opens it read-only. The helper has no way to write to any drive.
- The helper stops when you quit Data Recovery Pro.
Why it asks again for each scan
The helper stops when the app quits, so each new scan starts a new helper and macOS asks again. We plan to reduce this in a later version.
If you don't have the password
If you use a standard (non-administrator) account, ask someone with an administrator account on the Mac to type their name and password into the dialog.
If you click Cancel, the scan does not start and nothing is read. Click Start Scan to try again.
