Scanning, previewing, recovery and the other Enhance steps all happen on your computer. Restore with AI can't, because the model runs online. When you tick it, the app sends the photos you chose, one at a time.
What is sent
| The photo | A copy, reduced to 2,048 pixels on its long side, sent as a JPEG over an encrypted connection. |
| Your install ID | The random ID of your copy of the app, so the credit comes off the right balance. |
| Your account | Only if you're signed in, so the credit comes off your account's balance. |
Where it goes
Our server, which runs on Cloudflare, checks that you have a credit, takes one and passes the photo to OpenRouter. OpenRouter sends it to the AI model and returns the restored image to our server, which sends it straight back to the app.
Requests only go to model providers with zero data retention: they don't keep the photo after returning the result, and they don't use it to train their models. Our server doesn't save the photo or the result. All we keep is a line in your credit history with the date and the credit used.
What isn't sent
File names, folder names, your scan results and the photos you didn't tick are not sent. If you'd rather nothing left your computer, leave Restore with AI unticked; the other Enhance steps work without it.
The details are in our privacy notice, and the companies involved are listed on the sub-processors page.
