What to include in a bug report

Use the support form and choose Bug. The app version, your computer and its system version, and the steps that led to the problem help most.

Send bugs through the support form, with the topic set to Bug. You get a reference number and replies by email.

What to include

  • The app version. It's shown under Help & support in the app's sidebar, and on a Mac also under Data Recovery Pro › About Data Recovery Pro in the menu bar.
  • Your computer and its system version, from Apple menu › About This Mac on a Mac. On Windows, look in Settings › System › About and include the Windows edition and version, and the processor (Intel, AMD or ARM).
  • The type, size and make of the card or drive, its format if the app shows one, and the card reader you used.
  • What you did and what happened, with the exact wording of any message and the scan percentage if it stopped.
  • A screenshot if you can. On a Mac, press Shift-Command-4 and drag over the window, or press Shift-Command-5. On Windows, press Windows key-Shift-S.
  • The crash report, if the app quit on a Mac. When macOS offers it, click Report…, copy the text and paste it into your message.

What not to send

We never need your photos or other recovered files. Please don't attach them. Crash reports and screenshots can show file names, so check them first.
